The Emirates Red Crescent, ERC, has delivered emergency aid to the residents of remote mountain villages in Ghayl Bin Yamin district of southern Yemeni governorate of Hadramaut.
The initiative is part of the UAE's continued efforts to improve the humanitarian situation in the country.
Winter clothing, food packages and tents were carried in a convoy and delivered in response to an appeal from the villagers suffering from deteriorating infrastructure, including hospitals, roads, telecommunication services and sewage.
Local officials who took the delivery described the initiative as timely because a large number of nomadic people live in makeshift houses.
The nomads of the valleys and mountains, especially children and the elderly, suffering from harsh weather conditions are a priority for the ERC, said Abdullah Al Musaferi, Representative of the UAE humanitarian agency in Hadramaut.
ERC is working to expand relief operations in the governorate, he noted.
The beneficiaries thanked the government and the people of the UAE for extending continuous support to the Yemenis.
