Tunisia has been unanimously elected as President of the World Veterinary Association for a 3-year mandate, at the end of the 30th World Veterinary Congress and the general assembly of the World Veterinary Association (WVA), held in Cape Town, South Africa, last October 10-14, with attendance of over 2000 veterinarians of 151 countries. Tunisia's Faouzi Kechrid is indeed the first Arab and African veterinarian to head the association set up in 1863 and numbering 950 000 members throughout the world. Tunisia hosts the premises of the African Veterinary Association and the Euro-Arab Veterinary Association and heads them.
