The Innovation Committee at the Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (GPIC) hosted innovation pioneer Hamed Fakhro, who spoke about his personal experiences in the field.
Fakhro spoke about the difficulties and challenges he experienced before he went to achieve his objective of going to the United States for higher studies.
The audience listened to the lecture with attention and actively took part in a question-answer session at the end.
GPIC President Dr. Abdulrahman Jawahery said the field of innovation and creativity had generated a great deal of interest in the Executive Management. He said the Company is keen to encourage all employees to generate new ideas to improve business performance and overcome difficulties.
Dr. Jawahery said GPIC had ensured the creation of a modern suggestions system for employees to contribute their suggestions and ideas for the development of the Company. These proposals, he said, are constantly evaluated and studied by the concerned departments. He said the Company last year set up a Youth Committee for those under 30 years of age to encourage meetings between young people where they would discuss innovative proposals on how to improve functioning of various departments.
Dr. Jawahery thanked the members of the Committee for their efforts in organising workshops and lectures that promote a culture of innovation and creativity among employees.
The Innovation Committee has taken on the responsibility of spreading awareness among employees on the advancement of the level of thinking and to achieve a level of creativity and innovation and through the involvement of all employees in addressing specific issues.
The employees are also encouraged to give innovative solutions to solve any problems and ensure workers take part in various events. Communication with speakers and arranging with them to deliver lectures for the employees to benefit are also discussed.
