Lebanese diva Nancy Ajram might not have been the first choice for The Voice Kids Arabia as a judge on the talent competition, based on an interview with Egyptian singer Sherine Abdel Wahab.
Al-Bawaba quoted Sherine, who is a judge on The Voice Arabia, as saying to Laha Magazine that she was offered the job but had to decline for the same reasons Iraqi superstar Kazem el Saher quit after season one was completed.
Kazem had told reporters at the time that he wouldn’t return to season 2 of the competition because he “can’t bear seeing a child cry or be sad again just because he didn’t like their voice.”
Lebanese child singer Lynn Hayek won the first season of The Voice Kids Arabia in March and made her UAE debut in April when she performed at Yas Mall when she performed as part of their Spring Festival’s finale.
While it’s unconfirmed whether the show will return for a second season — and with its two other judges, Nancy and Egyptian singer and actor Tamer Hosny — when asked if Lebanese star Ragheb Alama would make a good replacement for Kazem, Sherine said “yes.”
“I nominate Ragheb to take part in any program that’s worthy of respect and appreciation. A great value is added to any show by Ragheb just being there because he’s been in showbiz for a long time and has a huge fan base.”
