Jordanian PM Abdullah Ensour
Amman - Arab Today

Prime Minister Abdullah Ensour met with the President and board members of the Federation of Arab Businessmen, who are meeting in Amman Tuesday.
At the meeting, which was attended by Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply Hatem Halawani, Ensour said that Jordan has taken a number of measures in the last two years and achieved legislative reforms that contributed to putting the Jordanian economy on the right track.
"Despite being a small country with limited resources, Jordan sets an advanced model in accomplishments it had achieved at various levels, and these accomplishments were made thanks to its leadership and people," he said.
The prime minister reviewed Jordan’s accomplishments mainly in the educational field, noting that it has the highest literacy rate in the Arab world at 94 percent and ranks first among Arab and Islamic states in terms of the number of university graduates compared to the population.
Commenting on the atmosphere of freedom in the Kingdom, he said Jordan has no ‘opinion detainees’, adding that the group which was arrested recently was due to the contacts it had made with the Daesh terrorist organization.
"One or two others were also detained as they insulted an Arab state, he said, adding that no Jordanian lives in exile or is prevented from travelling except for judicial reasons," he said.
Chairman of the federation, Hamdi Tabaa said the federation will discuss during its meeting in Amman today, issues pertaining to the Arab economy, accomplishments and activities of the federation in 2014 and its working plan to enhance joint Arab action to serve the Arab economy.
Halawani said Jordan's economy was at a critical stage in 2012 when foreign reserves in the Central Bank of Jordan were less than $6 billion, which currently stand at $14.5 billion.
