At least 12 insurgents were killed and many others were injured during a clash with security forces in southern Ghazni province of Afghanistan, said officials on Sunday. The administrative head of the district, Allah Dad Halimi said that the gun battle between the rebels and security forces lasting for three hours killed 12 rebels and injured many others in the Jangal area of Aab Band district of Ghazni. He added that two Taliban commanders were among the killed rebels. The security forces also recovered a number of weapons, ammunitions and motorbikes. According to local media reports, a Taliban spokesman, Zabihullah Mujahid confirmed the death of only two Taliban rebels in the firefight. He also claimed that six policemen had been killed and their vehicle seized by fighters, said the reports. The security situation in Afghanistan has been worsening after the national security force has taken control of overall security of the country as NATO/ISAF forces prepare to leave Afghanistan by the end of 2014.
