Iranian Ambassador to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Reza Najafi once again underlined that all dimensions of Iran’s nuclear energy program are fully transparent. Najafi's remarks came in reaction to the recent comments by IAEA Chief Yukiya Amano who claimed that "the IAEA could not say that all Iran’s nuclear activities are peaceful because Iran has not implemented the Additional Protocol". "The remarks (by Amano) were surprising in light of the current climate of cooperation with the UN nuclear body," Najafi said on Thursday night. Najafi reiterated that all the reports by the IAEA reaffirm the peaceful nature of Iran’s nuclear energy program and verify non-diversion towards military purposes. He said that Iran had voluntarily implemented modified Code 3.1 of the Subsidiary Arrangements as well as the Additional Protocol, but it stopped implementing them after the IAEA referred Tehran's nuclear case to the UN Security Council which imposed "unjust sanctions against the country". In an interview with Xinhua news agency on April 15, Amano said that the immediate resolution of the dispute over Iran’s nuclear energy program “depends very much on the level of cooperation and will of Iran.” In mid-November, Director-General of the IAEA Yukiya Amano and AEOI Chief Ali Akbar Salehi signed a joint statement which presented a roadmap for future cooperation to resolve the remaining issues between the two sides. According to the statement, the IAEA and Iran agreed on November 11, 2013 to strengthen their cooperation and dialogue aimed at ensuring the exclusively peaceful nature of Iran's nuclear program through the resolution of all outstanding issues that have not already been resolved by the IAEA.
