Israeli forces on Wednesday overnight detained at least 24 Palestinians, including children, most of them during a military raid in the district of al-Issawiya in East Jerusalem, according to the Palestinian Prisoners’ Society (PPS).
Israeli policemen broke into al-Issawiya, on the northern outskirts of Jerusalem, at predawn, where they raided dozens of homes, searched them and sabotaged their furniture. The police detained more than 20 Palestinians, including children, and summoned others for interrogation.
Some of the detainees were identified as Bashar Mahmoud, Feras Mahmoud, Kahled Mahmoud, Mutasem Abu Reyala, Ahmad Atiya, Mohmmad Khaled Mahmoud, 10, Ahmad Haitham Mahmoud, Ahmad Jamjoum, 13, Yasin Soboh, Dawoud Atiya, Mousa Darwish, Mahmoud Derbas, Ahmad Ebeid, 16, Mohammad Tha’er Mahmoud, Hussein Darwish, Mohammad Abdul-Havez Atiya, Ameer Dari, and Wadee Abul-Hummus.
During the offensive in the town, the police handed summon notices to more than 15 local Palestinians to appear for interrogation.
Meanwhile in Tulkarm district, in northern West Bank, Israeli army broke into the village of Faroun, where they detained Muneer Adwan, 30, after raiding and searching his house.
Also in Tulkarm area, the army set up a checkpoint near the village of Bezariya, where they detained Majd Ata Ali, 20, a Palestinian youth from the nearby village of Safarin, while he was on his way to university.
In Bethlehem, in southern West Bank, forces broke into Aida refugee camp near the city and detained Ahmad Mohammad Mashayekh, 19, after raiding and searching his family home.
In the meantime, Israeli authorities at Karamah border crossing, on Palestine-Jordan border, detained a Palestinian from Nablus, identified as Ameer Qadus, 27, while he was on his way to Jordan.
