Israeli air strikes on residential areas in the war-ravaged Gaza Strip claimed at least 11 Palestinians on Sunday.
An air attack targeted a home in the Sheikh al-Radwan district, central Gaza, killing 18-month-old Zeina Abu Taqiya and 17-year-old Mohammad Al-Khodary; five others were injured in the attack, medical sources in Gaza said.
Other two people were killed in a similar air attack on their home in Deir Al-Balah, Central Gaza by the strikes.
In Jabalia, other five people, including three children, were killed when their home was targeted by an Israeli warplane. Earlier in the day, two Palestinians were killed, noted the sources.
Meanwhile, Israel Radio said that five Israelis were injured by a mortar shell fired from the Strip; one of the injured is in a "critical condition." At least 2,109 people, most of them civilians and more than 400 of them children, have been killed since the Israeli brutal aggression began on July 8, the sources said, adding more than 10,000 others also were injured.
At the cabinet meeting today, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu threatened Hamas that it would pay much price for its strikes on Israeli areas.
He warned the Palestinian civilians to leave immediately any site where militants are operating, one day after Israel took the Gaza war to a new level by flattening a 13-storey apartment tower.
Defense Minister Moshe Ya'alon said that Hamas's projectile fire was part of "an attempt by Hamas to drag Israel into a war of attrition." "If Hamas's leaders think they will wear us out, or if they believe we are working according to a timetable, they are wrong. We're not in any hurry. We have patience," Ya'alon said.
"Operation Protective Edge will stop only when there is complete quiet in the South, and when rockets and mortars are no longer fired at Israel. "Until then, we will continue pounding Hamas and its infrastructure, at this stage, from the air. We don't plan to stop there, and we have a range of options to continue harming Hamas in other ways," he added.
