Israeli soldiers shot and critically injured a Palestinian school girl at Elyaho military checkpoint, east of Qalqilia in the West Bank, on Wednesday.
The Israeli military claimed that the girl, 14 years old, had attempted to stab Israeli soldiers manning the checkpoint before other soldiers opened fire and critically injured her, state news agency (WAFA) reported.
At least five Palestinians have been killed by Israeli fire during the past few days. Meanwhile, the Israeli forces opened gunfire at Palestinian homes along the borderline area to the east of Khan Younis, in the southern Gaza Strip, on Wednesday.
The Israeli soldiers stationed in military watchtowers along the border with Israel opened heavy machine gunfire at Palestinian homes to the east of Khan Younis, however, no injuries were reported, WAFA said. Late Tuesday night, Israeli naval boats attacked Palestinian fishermen with gunfire, despite sailing within the unilaterally designated fishing zone offshore the Gaza Strip. No injuries were reported.
Israeli army and navy routinely open fire at Palestinian fishermen and farmlands along the Gaza border, in a blatant violation of a ceasefire deal reached between Israel and the Palestinian factions in Gaza on August 26th 2014 following 51 days of bloody aggression on the Strip in the summer of 2014.
