Kuwait's First Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Khalid Al-Hamad Al-Sabah on Wednesday sent written messages to member states of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), asking for their support for an Arab draft resolution forcing Israel to join the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty.
The Arab draft resolution, which is about Israel's nuclear capabilities, is due to be submitted to the IAEA's General Conference in Vienna, Austria, this month.
Sheikh Sabah Al-Khalid stressed that Israel should join the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons as it is the only state that has not so far joined it.
He pointed out that this move is a matter of urgency and would ensure the establishment of Nuclear-Weapon-Free Zones in the Middle East as a main factor to maintain stability and security in the region.
