Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin in a meeting with Tehran’s Ambassador to Moscow Mehdi Sanayee described Iran as the only stable country in the volatile Middle-East region. During the meeting in Moscow on Wednesday, Rogozin termed the Islamic Republic as the only stable country in the “very sensitive” Middle East region and stressed the importance of ties and continued cooperation between Tehran and Moscow in this regard. He also called for further enhancement of cooperation between Moscow and Tehran regarding regional issues. The Russian official pointed to the recent developments in the region, and criticized negative role of certain powers in rising tensions in Ukraine and Afghanistan. He urged vigilance against the western plots. Sanayee, for his part, said that senior Iranian and Russian officials are determined to expand bilateral ties. Iran and Russia have vast cooperation in different fields, specially in political and economic spheres. The two states also enjoy special positions on the international scene and have long had constant and regular consultations on key regional and global issues.
