Russian opposition activists applied on Monday morning to hold a 50,000-strong "March of Millions" in Moscow on June 12, to protest the results of parliamentary and presidential elections, the Left Front movement’s leader said in his Twitter post. “We have submitted a notice about holding March of Millions rally on June 12 in the form of a march and meeting,” Udaltsov wrote in his Twitter account, adding that it was planned for 50,000 participants. The application is for a march from Belorussky railway station along Tverskaya Street to Borovitskaya Square, not far from the Kremlin. The proposed start time is 2:00 p.m. on June 12. The opposition is going to unveil its program manifesto at the rally. Udaltsov said the protest was organized by the same people as the May 6 rally, which ended in violence and clashes with police when the protesters tried to break police lines and move the event closer to the Kremlin, which had not been agreed with the city authorities. An experienced protest organizer, Udaltsov was put under administrative arrest on May 9 for 15 days for failing to obey police orders, as he took part in an unsanctioned Occupy-style protest against the return of President Vladimir Putin to power. Another opposition activist, journalist Sergei Parkhomenko, said on Monday he had also filed an application to hold a rally near The Sakharov Museum at midday on June 12, which is the Day of Russia and a holiday.
