Chief of Pakistan’s Army Staff General Raheel Sharif said the country's nuclear program occupies a central place in its defense strategy. The Army Chief visited country’s Army Strategic Force Command Headquarters in Rawalpindi, Islam Times reported. General Raheel Sharif lauds higher standard of trainings‚ professional abilities and morale of armed forces personnel. Commander Strategic Force Command Lieutenant General Obaidullah gave detailed briefing to the Army Chief. Pakistan's nuclear weapons development was in response to neighboring India's development of nuclear weapons in 1970s. Pakistan became the 7th country in the world to successfully develop and test nuclear weapons in 1998.
