Cairo - Arabstoday

Hossam el-Badry is happy with the team Cairo - Arabstoday Al-Ahly has claimed a morale-boosting 2-1 win over Egyptian Premier League Group A leaders ENPPI, ahead of the return of African Champions League next weekend. Striker Ahmed Abdel-Zaher scored the winning goal at the Air Defence Stadium after ENPPI's Abdallah el-Shahat had cancelled out Rami Rabeia's opener. Ahly will kick off the defence of their African Champions League title against Kenyan side Tusker in the CAF Champions League on Sunday Ahly coach Hossam el-Badry was delighted with the way his players applied themselves against ENPPI. "I thanked the players for their performance throughout the game as victory is important at this time," el-Badry told the club's official website. "The ENPPI players did their best to keep the group's lead but we were strong throughout," he added. The win lifted Ahly to second place in Group A with 12 points, behind ENPPI on goal difference. El-Badry said that his players are confident of getting the better of their Kenyan opponents in the Champions League. "Beating ENPPI will encourage our players before the Tusker game in the African Champions League," he said. The Red Devils won the African Super Cup last month after beating Congo's AC Leopards 2-1 in Alexandria.
