Algerian striker was out for a month Algiers – Hocine Bousalah Islam Slimani has confirmed that he has recovered from a knee injury to fight for a place in Algeria's African Cup of Nations team. In an interview with Arabstoday, Slimani said he trained with his teammmates at Chabab Belouzidad, on Monday night. The 24-year old said he was focused on a return to form, so he can win a place in the squad and perform well for the national team. Slimani added that playing a prominent role for the Greens on the African stage will allow him to make a move to Europe. The Greens goalscorer praised the national team physiotherapists who helped him recover at the Sidi Moussa Technical Centre in Algiers. Slimani said the trust placed in him by national team manager, Vahid Halilhodži? was "an incentive to do well." The recovering international also said that he knew there were other "strong strikers" playing in his position, such as Ghabbour and Belfodil. "Competition is for the good of the national team, and the final choice is up to manager, at the end of the day," Slimani said. Speaking about Algeria’s African Cup of Nations group, which comprises of Tunisia, the Ivory Coast and Togo, the forward said it was not the group of death. Slimani said that African football has seen great progress and that the Algerian team has every chance of qualifying for the second round. Slimani's knee injury ruled him out of action for over a month.
