Bulgarian sprint champion Tezdzhan Naimova Sofia - Arab Today Bulgarian sprint champion Tezdzhan Naimova was banned for life and ordered to hand back her 2013 European gold medal after failing a dope test, the Bulgarian athletics federation said Tuesday. Naimova, 26, tested positive for the banned anabolic steroid Drostanolone at the European Indoor Championships in Gothenburg in March, where she won the 60m title. That was a second doping offence for the athlete, who served a two-year suspension between 2008 and 2010 for switching samples during an out-of-competition urine test. As a result, the federation decided on Tuesday to ban Naimova for life, annul all her results from the Gothenburg championships and strip her of the gold medal. The decision enters into effect immediately but can still be appealed at the Lausanne-based Court of Arbitration for Sport, the federaion added. Source: AFP
