At least three troopers of India's paramilitary Central Reserve Police Police Force (CRPF) were killed and another seriously wounded in an incident of fratricide inside a stationed camp in Indian-controlled Kashmir, officials said Sunday. The incident took place Saturday night at Kulgam town, around 75 km south of Srinagar city, the summer capital of Indian- controlled Kashmir. "Three CRPF personnel were killed and another seriously wounded in a firing incident inside CRPF camp in Kulgam," said Mohsin Shahid, spokesman of CRPF in Srinagar. "The firing shots were reported to have taken place around 10:45 on Saturday night." The wounded trooper has been hospitalized. Shahid said six paramilitary troopers were detained for questioning and an inquiry has been ordered in the matter. The reason behind this fratricide was not known immediately. "As of now we can't say anything," Shahid said. "Let the inquiry completes, we will share the findings." Reports said the firing incident happened after an altercation between the personnel. Indian troops stationed in Indian-controlled Kashmir battling armed insurgency are reported to be under lots of stress and strain.
