Sringar - Xinhua

At least 30 people were feared killed after a mini-bus they were traveling in skidded off the road and fell into a river in Indian- controlled Kashmir, officials said Sunday. The accident took place Saturday evening near Thathri in Doda district, around 170 kilometers northeast of Jammu, the winter capital of Indian-controlled Kashmir. "A passenger vehicle reportedly carrying 32 people skidded off the road and plunged into river Chenab," said a police official in Doda. "Of the 32, two were lucky enough to have survived." Police officials however said they have so far retrieved only five bodies from the river, while others are still missing. According to officials, the ill-fated vehicle was on its way from Pul Doda to Thathri, when it plunged into River Chenab. No sooner had the news about accident spread than locals and policemen rushed to the spot to carry out rescue work. Police attributed the accident to rash driving. On Friday, 11 people were killed and 28 others injured after a passenger bus they were travelling in skidded off the road and fell into a gorge at Panzinila Top in Kargil district of Ladakh division.
