About 62 people of the total 74 passengers and crew of a ferryboat named Kousha-I that sank in Persian Gulf waters near Assalouyeh region on Thursday were rescued. The ferryboat was reportedly heading towards Assalouyeh port from oil platforms in Persian Gulf waters that submerged 18 kilometers from Assalouyeh for unknown reasons. Head of Kish Ports and Navigation Administration said after SoS was sent from the ferry before sinking in the Persian Gulf waters, a helicopter was dispatched to the region and hopefully rescued 62 people. Asgari-Nasab noted that eight of the twelve remaining have been caught in a water-proof chamber equipped with oxygen and the divers are looking for ways to rescue them. Moreover, he pointed out that the rescue in the Persian Gulf waters is still underway.
