80 Taken hostage in Brazil prison riot

Eighty people are being held hostage by inmates after a riot erupted in a maximum security prison in northeastern Brazil. More than 400 prisoners, armed with knives and rifles, took over the jail on Sunday, demanding better treatment and speedier trials. Twenty-eight people have been freed since the beginning of the standoff. Most of the hostages are inmates' family members who were seized when the revolt broke out during visiting hours.
