Emerging reports have mentioned that at least five people were killed and 10 others injured in an explosion near the office of Balochistan Police Chief in Quetta city on Friday, the media reported.
Key government offices are located in the area where the explosion took place, reports The News International.
The injured were moved to Quetta's Civil Hospital while a rescue operation is still underway, Dawn News reported.
"The blast took place near the IG office (inspector general of police) and it's possible the assailants were trying to enter the (army) cantonment which is close by," said provincial government spokesman Anwar ul-Haq Kakar.
