A heavy explosion in Myanmar's economic hub and former capital Yangon has killed at least 15 people and left dozens more wounded, officials say. The blast occurred at a state-owned medical warehouse in Yangon's eastern township of Mingalar Taung Nyunt early on Thursday and caused a large fire. According to a security official at the scene, the explosion and the ensuing blaze claimed the lives of 10 men, including three firefighters, and five women while it injured at least 65 people. The cause of the explosion is under investigation. "We are still trying to make the list. We are also trying to find out the cause of the explosion and the fire," he said. Residents in several areas of Yangon were woken up by the blast. Last week, a blast caused by an explosive device in northern Yangon left one woman dead and another person injured. Myanmar has been hit by several bomb blasts in recent years, which the government blames on ethnic minority fighters or armed exile groups.
