A British man was one of 17 people arrested in the Dominican Republic for alleged involvement in a cocaine shipment seized at an airport, authorities said. The Briton, named as Edgar Rowson, was held with a Dutch man, Nicolas Johannes Maria, and 15 local police officers. The Caribbean country's National Drug Control Directorate said Thursday's arrests are tied to a one-ton cargo of cocaine shipped on a flight to Antwerp in Belgium. Agency spokesman Roberto Lebron identified the two foreigners, and said officers are also looking for several Lebanese citizens. Mr Lebron said the arrested police officers worked at the airport in La Romana on its security force, the immigration service and the anti-drug agency itself.
