A Canadian jury has found a Manitoba man guilty of the first-degree murders of his parents and a brother in a dispute over farm ownership, officials said. The jury returned the verdict against Jerome Laboissiere Wednesday night in Winnipeg after a 16-day trial, the Winnipeg Free Press reported. Laboissiere is a convicted drug dealer with ties to the Hells Angels motorcycle gang, the Winnipeg Sun said. He was given a 25-year life sentence less time served for the shooting deaths of his parents, 78 and 74, as well as a 44-year-old brother in November 2005. Court heard Laboissiere had been trying to buy the $1.3-million-dollar family farm at a fraction of the price, but the victims weren't cooperating, the Canadian Broadcasting Corp. said. Prosecutors said he and Michael Hince shot and killed the family and then burned down the farmhouse. Hince was acquitted of all charges and released. After the verdict was announced, Laboissiere declined to comment, prompting Judge Brenda Keyser to admonish him, the Canadian Broadcasting Corp. said. "This is a truly monstrous crime," the judge said. "It is beyond belief that someone would slaughter their family for greed."
