A senior official of the Communist Party of China (CPC) said Thursday that China will work with Japan to promote bilateral ties. Wang Jiarui, head of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, made the remark while meeting with Shinji Tarutoko, acting secretary-general of the Democratic Party of Japan (DPJ), Japan's ruling party. Wang said that Sino-Japanese relations are one of the most important ties for both sides, and the strategic relationship of mutual benefit accords with the peace, stability and prosperity of Asia and even the world, as well as the fundamental interests of both China and Japan. "China highly values the Sino-Japanese relationship and expects the implementation of both leaders' consensus in order to promote the development of bilateral ties," he said. Wang also noted that the communication mechanism for the CPC and the DPJ is an important platform for both sides to communicate, and China is willing to conduct dialogues on common issues through strengthening the mechanism. Tarutoko said during the meeting that Japan is willing to intensify profound exchanges with China in various fields, including politics, economy, trade, energy saving and environmental protection, through party-to-party communications in order to promote a long-term, stable and healthy relationship. Tarutoko is visiting China from Oct. 26 to 28 at the invitation of the International Department of the Central Committee of the CPC.
