Egypt, France and Sweden on Saturday called for holding an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council to discuss the ongoing violence in Al-Quds, said diplomatic sources.
The meeting, for which a date has not been set yet, will tackle means to support calls for de-escalation as clashes between Israeli police and Palestinians continue in East Jerusalem.
Tensions have soared since two Israeli policemen were killed a week ago by three Israeli Arab gunmen who were also shot dead by Israeli troops.
On Friday, a Palestinian young man stabbed to death three Israelis in Halamish settlement after he infiltrated their home. He was shot and caught.
