Thousands of anti-capitalist protesters who were gathered on Esplanade De Lattre de Tassigny in the north-east of the city have begun their protest march. 15:15 GMT: There are "less than 3,500" protesters gathered to set off on the march while around 2,000 extra police have been mobilised to keep them in check, according to a police source. 15:05 GMT: "We refuse to give the powerful the right to impose their solutions on crises that they created. Alternative paths exist," say pamphlets distributed by the organisers of the protest march around the Mediterranean city ahead of this afternoon's march.. Protesters from Germany, Spain and Italy began arriving Monday at the "Old Abattoir" cultural centre where a "People's Summit" is to be held at the same time as the summit of Group of 20 leaders in Cannes on Thursday and Friday.
