A teenager who was found dead in woods almost six weeks after his father shot his mother in a hair salon died from hanging, an inquest has heard. The body of Jack Williams 16, was found in Brynglas Woods, Newport after he was reported missing last Monday. The inquest in Newport was adjourned and police investigations continue. His father, Darren Williams, was also found dead in the same woods as police searched for him after he shot his estranged wife.Mr Williams, 45, went to the city's Carol Ann Hair Salon on 19 August and shot Rachel Williams, hitting her in the knee and also injuring two customers. The shooting triggered a major police manhunt which concluded hours later when he was found hanging in Brynglas Woods.A post-mortem examination subsequently concluded that he had died from pressure to the neck.Mrs Williams, 39, had 10 hours of surgery to save her leg after the shooting.Jack, a former pupil at Newport High School, had been staying with his father's sister while his mother was in hospital. She was recently discharged from hospital and is still recuperating at home. She is said to be inconsolable at the death of her son.Ken Le Prevost, coroner's officer with Gwent Police, gave evidence at Monday's brief hearing. He revealed that a post-mortem examination had confirmed Jack died as a result of hanging. He said police were not treating the death as suspicious. The hearing was adjourned for the completion of police inquiries which will form the basis of a report to the coroner.
