A three-day international meeting on anti-corruption ended here Friday, with over 350 participants from international organizations and some 20 American, African and European countries. The forum, sponsored by Cuba's Attorney General, was aimed at finetuning corruption prevention strategies and discussing the impact of the current financial crisis. During the last session of the forum, Antonio Mazzitelli, regional representative for Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean department of the UN Office for Drug Control and Crime Prevention, praised the Cuban actions on anti-corruption and the meeting's fruitful exchange of experiences. Mazzitelli said that this meeting "is a step in the international fight against crime and corruption, which are national problems but maintain multinational links, therefore it requires gathering ideas and comparing experiences and practices elsewhere in order to fight it.
