Tehran - Xinhua

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said Tuesday that the West and NATO's attacks on Libya were aimed at plundering the wealth and resources of the country, the state IRIB TV website reported. Ahmadinejad made the remarks when addressing a crowd in Birjand, the capital city of the South Khorasan province. The first and foremost objective of the NATO attacks on Libya was to plunder the resources and assets of the Libyans, said Ahmadinejad. The West seeks to bring "non-revolutionaries and unpopular figures" to power in oil-rich Libya, he said according to local satellite Press TV. He urged NATO officials to stop their "inhumane acts" and abandon military bases in Libya and in the region.
