Japanese Defense Minister Itsunori Onodera said Thursday that Japan would be legally allowed to intercept any North Korean missile targeting the US island of Guam.
Spokesman for the Japanese government Yoshihide Suga said his country strongly urges North Korea to take into consideration the serious warnings by the US, Sky News reported.
Suga stressed the need for North Korea to abide by UN resolutions and refrain from any provocative actions.
North Korean media reported that the country is preparing a plan by mid-August to launch four medium-range missiles on Guam, which will be submitted to North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.
