Mexicans President Felipe Calderon and Guatemalan President-elect Otto Perez Molina held talks Saturday in Venezuela's capital on bilateral ties and cooperation, Mexico's presidential office said in a statement. The meeting took place following the Third Summit of Latin America and the Caribbean on Integration and Development (CALC) held Friday in Caracas. "Both leaders agreed to cooperate in security, environment, education, culture, and scientific and technical fields," the statement said. During the meeting, Perez agreed with Calderon to promote the regional integration of Central America. Also, Perez stressed the importance of Guatemala's neighborly ties with Mexico and invited Calderon to his inauguration ceremony on Jan. 14. Perez, candidate of Guatemala's Patriot Party, won the country's presidential run-off elections last month.
