New York - Xinhua

New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg said Thursday that it's "despicable" if protesters are failing to report crimes. Bloomberg said his high priority is to "make everybody safe" in Lower Manhattan. "We have an obligation to protect everybody in the city." 26-year-old Tonye Iketubosin was arrested in Zuccotti Park on Wednesday. He was charged with the sex abuse of an 18-year-old protester in the tent on Oct. 24. Police said he is also a suspect in the horrifying rape of another protester. Bloomberg also blasted some Occupy Wall Street protesters for not calling on police when crimes are committed. They simply ejected the miscreants from the park. Bloomberg's remarks came as the demonstration took their protest to Goldman Sachs, where 17 protesters were arrested after refusing to move from the pavement in front of its headquarters. At the same time, the vast majority of the 78 arrested protesters are refusing dismissal deals and insisting on going to trial. They are in the Manhattan Criminal Court Thursday for the arraigning on their arrests for the Sept. 24 march on Union Square. The Prosecutors are recommending that charges be dismissed if they are not re-arrested in six months. Attorney Martin Stolar who represents some of the protesters said the demonstrators claimed they did nothing wrong and wanted to go to trial.
