A coastguard operation from across the island of Ireland will be involved in a search for a missing 37-year-old man on Carlingford Lough later.Mark McGowan, a kayaker from Carlingford in County Louth, was last seen on Sunday evening. The Irish coastguard are taking his disappearance "very seriously".Search co-ordinator Micheal O'Toole said it would re-evaluate its operation on Wednesday due to poor weather conditions. He said he hoped to use the Irish coastguard helicopter."We would be continuing to concentrate our search around the Ballyedmond/Rostrevor area and the general Carlingford Lough area from Greenore to Warrenpoint," he added."So that entire area will be searched thoroughly by coastguard assets from Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland."We have been searching for Mark since he was last sighted on Sunday evening at approximately 7pm and there has been no report from him since, so naturally we are quite concerned for himself and his family."The coastguard will be initiating as wide and as intense a search as is possible this morning."Kilkeel lifeboat scoured the lough for most of Tuesday and the south Down coastguard rescue team also assisted.Police have appealed to anyone who saw Mark or a blue kayak in the area to come forward. He is described as being 5ft 7in (1.70m) tall, of medium build with a tanned complexion. He has short, bleached blonde hair and was last seen wearing a red jacket, blue jeans and white trainers.
