A 37-year-old Bangladeshi worker died due to suffocation after a fire erupted in his wooden room attached to a car wash centre in Sharjah where he was working.
A relative of the deceased said that on the second day of Eid, two brothers and uncle of the man asked him to accompany them for Eid visits, but he preferred to sleep.
While he was sleeping, a fire erupted in the room due to the short circuit in the AC, and the people from nearby mosques informed the civil defence and the brother of the deceased about the fire.
Col Sami Al Naqabi, director-general of the Sharjah Civil defence, said that the firefighters rushed to the site, and it was found that the workers at the car wash centre were able to extinguish the fire completely using the water hoses at the centre.
However, the worker, who was sleeping inside the room, was already dead and police shifted the body to the forensic laboratory. An investigation has been launched to find out the real cause of the fire and death of the worker.
