An Indian Scholar Wednesday termed the killing of 28 Shia Muslims in Pakistan a “senseless acts of violence”. Talking to IRNA, Professor Basir Ahmed, former Head of the Department of Islamic Studies at Jamia Hamdard University, said: “The gruesome massacre of innocent pilgrims proved that there are elements who want to create hatred among Muslims. He said that the barbaric and heinous acts of planned massacre carried out by extremists in southwest Pakistan Tuesday, showed weakness in system and security. Condoling the loss of lives, Basir, who is also the President of the Indian Union Muslim League, demanded the government of Pakistan to take effective measures to bring an end to the target killings. The “Government should eliminate all the extremist groups posing threat for the unity of Muslims,” he added. Strongly condemning the attack, the Indian academician extended condolences to the aggrieved families and also prayed for quick recovery of the injured. Banned Lashkar-e-Jhangvi militants Tuesday shot dead 28 Shia Muslims in two back-to-back attacks that also left several injured in the restive Balochistan province of southwest Pakistan.
