The London-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) mentioned that the regime forces have made significant progress against Daesh terrorist group in the eastern countryside of Raqqa.
The Syrian troops controlled a number of villages and became less than four kilometers from Madan city which is the last city controlled by the organization and located on the southern bank of Euphrates River, the SOHR was quoted as saying by Alhurra channel on Sunday.
The progress achieved by the Syrian forces came under heavy shelling by the artillery and missiles besides the raids carried out by the Russian military jets, the SOHR underlined.
