The Government of Sweden Thursday appointed three new ambassadors, to be stationed in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo; Lusaka, Zambia and Prague, Czech Republic, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a media statement. Mette Sunnergren has been appointed Ambassador in Kinshasa. She is currently Deputy Head of the Embassy with responsibility for development cooperation. Sunnergren has previously served at the Embassy in Kabul and at the Swedish International Development Co-operation Agency in Stockholm. Prior to this she was involved in the non-governmental organisations Diakonia and Forum Syd, and has worked in Zimbabwe, Latin America and the Middle East. Lena Nordstrom has been appointed Ambassador in Lusaka. Since 2005, Nordstrom has been Ambassador in Bogota, Columbia. She has previously served at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs Americas Department and the Embassy in Santiago de Chile. She will take up her new post during the autumn. Annika Jagander has been appointed Ambassador in Prague. She has previously served as an inspector at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador in Gaborone (Botswana) and Deputy Head of the Embassy in Madrid. In 1997-1998, when Sweden was a member of the UN Security Council, Jagander served at the Permanent Mission of Sweden to the UN in New York. She has also served at the Embassies in Washington and Havana, and been Secretary to the Riksdag Committee on Foreign Affairs. She will take up her new post in autumn, the statement said.
