About 30 people died on the spot while several others were severely injured on Saturday when two buses on which they were travelling collided at Savelugu, a town near Tamale, the police confirmed. The accident occurred when a Benz bus travelling from Kumasi to Bolgatanga, 810 kilometers northwest of Accra, collided with a Tamale-bound metro-mass transit bus, Alex Oppong of the Northern Regional Motor Traffic and Transport Unit (MTTU) told a local radio. He said that the Benz bus attempting to over-take a car run into opposite lane and collided head-on with the bus. Both drivers, together with all the passengers on the Benz bus died instantly, the police inspector said. The dead were yet to be identified while the survivors who sustained varying degree of injuries had been rushed to the Tamale hospital for medical attention.
