U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo hailed the summit which was held yesterday between North Korean leader Kim Jong-un and South Korean President Moon Jae-in.
Pompeo released a written statement congratulating Presidents Moon Jae-in and Kim Jong-un on the inter-Korean summit commitments.
He said that Washington is willing to begin negotiations with Pyongyang, noting that the United States had invited North Korea's foreign minister to a meeting in New York next week on the sidelines of their participation in the UN General Assembly session.
The US Secretary of State said in his written statement that his country wanted North Korea to completely denuclearize by 2021, in line with Singapore joint declaration.
