Nouakchott - Habib al-Qurashi

Mauritanian professor Torba Mint Ammar Nouakchott - Habib al-Qurashi The Mauritanian professor and women's rights advocate Torba Mint Ammar confirmed that polygamy should be considered in favour of “spinsterhood” in Mauritius. In an interview with Arabstoday Amma said: "I think that poor social habits in Mauritanian society are changing.” Amma stated one of these habits as: “The non-acceptance of some families to marry their daughters or sons to other families,” and admitted that although some social circles will remain vulnerable from this change: “The fastest development is the acceptance of multiplicity of wives.” Amma explained that: “Every lady who has exceeded the age of thirty is afraid of spinsterhood,” confirming that pluralism is just the medication that may be needed.
