Former Head of Egypt’s Press Syndicate Yahia Qalash said that the imprisonment sentence issued against him seems diluted, while he has been convicted. He added that they will take the legal measures against the verdict to overturn the judgement.
He added, in a statement to “Arabs Today”, that the verdict’s effect is not limited to the individual level while extends to all members of the syndicate. He added that the verdict undermines the relation between the syndicate and its members. He added that he did not protect the wanted people, while he wanted to hand them over to the Egyptian authorities in a safe way.
He added that verdict should be cancelled, as there is no crime, stressing that the continuation of the verdict poses serious threat against the future role of the syndicate which is to protect its members. He expressed his confidence that the verdict will be overturned as soon as possible.
