The statement of The Council of Arab Media Unity Nouakchott – Mohammad Sharif Abeidy The Council of Arab Media Unity, announced in a statement seen by Arabstoday, the solidarity of its members with the Mauritanian journalist being held in the central prison in the capital Nouakchott. Head of Arab Media Forum, Haitham Yousef, appealed to all sides concerned, for the immediate release of the journalist. He also announced his solidarity with the initiative of Mauritanian journalists to set Obeid Ould Amegn free. According to the statement,: Arab media ambassador, Haitham Yousef, announced, from his residence in the Jordanian capital Amman," the solidarity of the members of the Arab Media Forum and Arab Media Unity Council with our colleague Ould Amegn who was arrested in Nouakchott". Youssef appealed in a formal statement addressed to the competent authorities to immediately set the detained free according to the principle of the right of expression guaranteed by international conventions and international laws. Yousef denounced the arrest of Obeid Ould Amegn" for a crime that he did not commit." The Forum is issuing messages to all international organisations urging the international community to support this cause until the Mauritanian journalist is released.
