Head of Moroccan Association for Investigative journalism Noukchott - Mohammed Shina Head of the Moroccan Association for Investigative journalism, Maria Makram told Arab Today that journalists face incredible difficulties reporting in Arab countries, which are suspicious of any external probing. She said there is a misconception surrounding investigative reporting, which some groups claim is aimed at alienating people from the ruling institutions. In the exclusive interview, Makram said, “Investigative journalism faces financial and time constraints. In order to develop this style of reporting, journalists needed to be given more time to allow him to undertake such projects.” She added that given a few more years, investigative reporting would be at the heart of Middle Eastern news. Makram said, "If the journalist has a real will to do investigative surveys, he can do this, regardless of the current climate in the Arab world”. She added that there is great potential in Mauritania, adding that, “there is great thirst between the Mauritanian journalists about the interest in this kind of journalism,” however the media in this country facing incredible financial and technical constraints.
