Taher El Nono Gaza - Mohammed Habib Taher El Nono, spokesperson of the resigned Palestinian government, has told 'Arabstoday' that Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has a "real will to end the state of division among Palestinian factions and achieve the goals of the Palestinian people.” El Nono, who is attending the Hamas-Fatah bilateral meetings in Cairo, said that Hamas attended the meetings with goodwill and was willing to act upon agreed points. He added: “We found the same thing in Fatah and we hope this spirit reflects actual execution." What was done in Cairo represents an end in the division and initiating a new phase of real partnership and leadership that is determined to include all Palestinians. He also referred to the leadership meeting due to be held in Cairo on the 22nd of December to address issues related to the Palestinian factions according to El Nono. El Nono also considered the meetings as a step towards cancelling negative practices including political detention. In addition, according to El Nono, there will be an agreement on the preparation for the elections. “Elections of the National Council and presidential elections will be run in accordance to what was reached last May,” El Nono said.
