British Deputy Ambassador in Iraq Baghdad – Jaafar Al Nasrawi The British Deputy Ambassador in Iraq, Robert Dean expressed concerns over Iraqi militants participating in the current Syria conflict, calling on Iraqi authorities to take "tough measures to prevent them." In an interview with Arab Today, Dean said that the British government is concerned over the participation of Iraqi militants in Syria, who announced a "call for Jihad." Dean said that after two years of the Syrian conflict, there is no clear future for a democratic transition. "We found thousands of Syrian people killed, injured or displaced, without any hopes of change for the situation without dialogue" the British official said. He called on all Iraqis to "support the political solution in Syria" and "stop participating in the war." Regarding the security situation in Iraq, Dean denied having any information about terrorist cells in Iraq that are responsible for recent bomb attacks. Dean affirmed that Britain has warned citizens against visiting Iraq, considering it as a "hot spot" and not "completely secure." However, he expressed his country's keenness to invest in Iraq. Regarding the lifting of Chapter 7 sanction last month, the British official said that this was considered as one of Iraq’s biggest achievements to help the country attract more investments.
