Abu Al-Ila Madi Cairo - Akram Ali Chairman of ‘Alwast’ Party, Abu Al-Ila Madi, condemned the "media exaggeration in reflecting the Israeli embassy incident on September 19th, saying that “what happened in the Israeli embassy should not have worried Egyptians, and things should not have been dramatized, as if the war will start tomorrow.” In his interview with “the Arabs today”, Madi said: “why are Egyptians worried? Israel violated the international law many times without paying attention to anyone.” On the reasons of excluding his party from participating in the "correcting the path" Friday on September 19th, Madi said: " the reason why we didn’t participate is because we didn’t find common demands that push us to go down to the streets and demonstrate them, we decided that the most important demands is to cancel the military trails for civilians, however we found other demands that do not reflect the revolution and its goals, so we decided not to participate.” Regarding re-activating the Emergency Law, Madi said: "re-activating the emergency again is considered as an abuse from this weak government, and brings us back to the pre-revolution policies ", he pointed out that "the performance of Essam Sharaf ‘s government is very weak, and that he is not able to manage the situation as he is supposed to.” On the party’s participation in the upcoming legislative elections, Madi confirmed that "the party is currently preparing electoral list to participate in the coming elections of the People's Assembly and Shura Council," and said that he "will powerfully enter the elections this time." Regarding his meeting with Sami Annan in the parties meeting, Madi said "the majority of parties agreed on unconditional elections," and we hope to "approve this consensual request." Madi also warned of "the method used by the Minister of information, Osama Haikal, and noted that “he uses the same policies that former Minister of Information Anas elfeqi used in repressing media.” Regarding the current situation in Egypt, Abul-Ela Madi said that: “the new Egypt will be a very big problem for who is taking control of its affairs, especially in the coming years." Madi said: "We had a referendum internally in the party, to choose the candidate we support for the Egyptian presidency, and we agreed on the great thinker Muhammad Salim Al-Awa, because of his major role in establishing ‘Alwast’ party from the beginning.” Almadi declared that "as soon as the party finishes the legislative elections, it will work to develop a strong campaign to support Al-Awa in the upcoming presidential elections."
