Nine public parks and public squares are currently being built in Dubai, Hussain Lootah, Director-General, Dubai Municipality, said.

The projects, worth Dh77 million in total, will add more green and leisure spaces in the city.

Lootah said the projects are in line with the aims of the municipality to deliver happiness to people by way of services that benefit the community.

Meanwhile, development works worth Dh6.2 million in Al Mushrif Park are 90 per cent complete and expected to be finished this month.

In December, a Dh4.5 million park will open in Nad Al Sheba 2, followed by a public square in Muhaisnah 1 in the first quarter of 2016, which will cost Dh2.5 million. Another public square, costing approximately Dh2 million, will be completed by next May in Al Twar 2. A third public square project in Al Warqa'a 3, worth Dh23 million, will be ready by March 2016.

Among the projects being implemented is phase three of the Quran Park, valued at Dh26 million. There is also the Dh21.3 million Palm Park that will be ready in December 2016.

The municipality has already completed 11 service projects this year at a cost of Dh79.2 million, he added.

In Oud Al Muteenah, a Dh6 million park is taking shape while in Al Aweer a Dh5 million park in coming up. Another Dh5 million park, in Al Twar 2 is also under construction.

A Dh4 million park is being developed in Al Mankhool. Other projects include the Dh5 million Al Habab park, the Dh4 million park in Al Warqa'a, and a public square in Al Barsha costing Dh1.25 million.

The municipality has this year completed a project for new warehouses and offices for itself and the Public Prosecution, worth Dh8 million.

A new park in Al Garhoud will open early next year at a cost of Dh3.48 million, Lootah added, while a Dh6.3 million park in Al Mizhar 2 will be ready in May 2016.
