Egyptian embassy in Addis Ababa honours Pope Tawadros

Egyptian Ambassador here Abu Bakr Henfi held on Saturday a ceremony in honor of Pope Tawadros II, currently on a visit to Ethiopia, the media office of the embassy said on Sunday.

The Ethiopian patriarch and hundreds of members of Egyptian, Arab and African communities attended the ceremony.

The Pontiff and the Egyptian diplomat underlined the importance of national unity between Muslims and Christians that was clearly manifested during celebrations of Eidual Adha and the Holy Cross Feast.

Pope Tawadros II arrived here on Saturday on his first historic visit to the African nation. He was received by Ethiopian Patriarch Mathias I of the Ethiopian Tewahedo Church at the Holy Trinity Cathedral in Addis Ababa.

The Pope is leading a delegation of the Church on a visit to run till Wednesday.
